ApplicationsA histamine H1 receptor antagonistDiphenhydramine hydrochloride acts as a sodium channel blocker. It is used as a histamine H1-receptor antagonist. Further, it is used as a sedative, hypnotic, antiemetic, antitussive and pruritus. It is employed in the treatment of allergic conditions. In addition to this, it is used as an active ingredient in common cold preparations.
Solubility
Soluble in water, dimethyl sulfoxide, dimethylformamide, methanol and ethanol.
Notes
Incompatible with strong oxidizing agents, strong acids and alkalis.
