Selectively isolate and presumptively identify Pseudomonas aeruginosa and other gram-negative, non-fermentative bacteria with this selective, ready-to-use medium.
Supplier: Thermo Scientific™ R01292
Description
Selectively isolate and presumptively identify Pseudomonas aeruginosa and other gram-negative, non-fermentative bacteria with Thermo Scientific™ Remel™ Cetrimide Selective Agar. The composition of Cetrimide Selective Agar promotes the selective growth of P. aeruginosa1,2 and enhances the Pseudomonas-specific pigment, pyocyanin3.
Cetrimide Selective Agar is a solid medium recommended for use in qualitative procedures for selective isolation and presumptive identification of Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
- Selective: Cetrimide inhibits the growth of non-Pseudomonas microbial flora by causing the release of nitrogen and phosphorous from bacterial cells.
- Easy-to-read: Potassium sulfate and magnesium chloride stimulate the production of blue-green, water-soluble non-fluorescent phenazine pigment, pyocyanin, and fluorescein. Fluorescein is visible under UV light source, making it easier to read the results.
- Ready-to-use: the convenience of prepared media.
- Conforms to Pharmacopeia standards: Cetrimide Selective Agar conforms to United States Pharmacopeia (USP) and European Pharmacopoeia (EP) standards4-5.
