MilliporeSigma™ T4 Lysozyme (T4L), Mouse, Unlabeled, Clone: 6A6,
Mouse Monoclonal Antibody
Supplier: MilliporeSigma™ MABS1289
Description
Bacteriophage T4 endolysin (EC 3.2.1.17; UniProt P00720; also known as T4 lysis protein, T4 lysozyme, T4 muramidase, T4L) is encoded by the T4 E gene. T4 lysozyme (T4L) is a 164-a.a. monomeric protein that hydrolyzes peptidoglycan.T4L functions outside the cytoplasmic membrane and starts the phage extracellular phase by liberating virions from the metabolically inert remains of the bacterial host. Similar to glutathione S-transferase (GST) and T7 lysozyme, T4L sequence is commonly utilized to generate soluble recombinant fusions of hydrophobic proteins, such as multitransmembrane proteins, that are otherwise not soluble when expressed entirely in their native sequences. Antibodies against T4L are useful in detecting T4L in T4-infected bacteria hosts and in probing recombinant T4L fusion proteins.Specifications
